Richard Gottehrer

Founder & Chief Creative Officer

Richard Gottehrer is Co-Founder & Chief Creative Officer of The Orchard. He began his career in the music industry as a songwriter, penning classics such as "My Boyfriend's Back" and "I Want Candy" and was an artist in the 1960s pop group, The Strangeloves. In 1966, he co-founded leading independent record label Sire Records with fellow luminary Seymour Stein. Peter McCarthy

Senior Vice President, Marketing

Peter McCarthy is Senior Vice President of Marketing at The Orchard. In this role, Pete leads the strategic marketing efforts across The Orchard’s global marketing and distribution platform. Additionally, McCarthy contributes to driving growth and innovation by identifying market trends and opportunities, developing new business models, identifying third party partnerships, and working with the Product Development and Engineering teams to expand The Orchard’s core marketing services, products, and capabilities. Prior to joining The Orchard in 2011, Pete led a successful career in publishing, serving as Vice President of both Random House and Penguin Group along the way. When it comes to music, Pete’s a little all over the place: with a gravitational center around “alternative rock” – from Minutemen to Arcade Fire, with a nod to The Pixies – he’s also a sucker for sad songwriters like Elliott Smith, Brit greats such as The Smiths, power pop punk, and let’s throw in some deep country of the likes of Townes van Zandt.

Colleen Theis

Managing Director, UK & Europe

Colleen Theis joined The Orchard as Managing Director, Europe, in April 2011. Previously she was Senior Vice President, International of ADA Global. Colleen has been based in London since 2001, when she relocated from New York to expand her international marketing role with Rykodisc and Palm Pictures. Before going indie, Colleen got her start in the music industry in Elektra Records’ international department. Colleen holds a BA in Broadcast Journalism and Spanish from Southern Methodist University. She is the proud owner of a ridiculously huge and eclectic record collection (with a particular focus on the New Romantic era) as well as a tattered and tattooed passport, having traveled to some countries no longer found on modern maps and globes in the pursuit of music.
